The Commonweal cancer help program is a week-long retreat for people with cancer. The goal is to help participants live better, and where possible, longer lives. The program helps patients find balanced information on choice in healing; mainstream and complementary therapies; exploring emotional and spiritual dimension of cancer; discovering that illness can sometimes lead to a richer and fuller life; experiencing community with others facing a cancer diagnosis.

The Gerson Institute does not operate any clinics, but licenses clinics that practice their high standards for treatment. There are two inpatient licensed clinics - one is Mexico and one in Hungary. The Gerson therapy is a natural treatment that activates the body's ability to heal itself through an organic, vegetarian diet, raw juices, coffee enemas and natural supplements. It's whole body approach has no damaging side effects. The residential component is typically for a few weeks, and then is maintained at home for 2 years. There is an option to complete the whole program at home.

The Ceres community project operates through an integrated model that gives teens experiences of growing and preparing healthy food, provides those facing cancer and other life-threatening illnesses with nourishing meals, and educates the larger community about the connection between food, healing and wellness. The program runs throughout Sonoma County and also in Marin County.

Sutter Women's Health Integrated Health and Healing Clinic
Free or low fee complementary therapies are provided at a Saturday clinic twice a month to low-income women with cancer. Therapies include massage, acupuncture, Feldenkrais technique, and guided imagery. This clinic is at the Integrative Medicine Clinic, 175 Concourse Blvd, Santa Rosa. Community Support programs

Lotsa Helping Hands
Lotsa helping hands is a free private group calendar that helps caregivers, friends, family members and other volunteers to coordinate the dates and times when they will help with caregiving duties, such as preparing meals, providing rides or running errands. It also features an online bulletin board to share news about the person, photos and gives others an opportunity to offer support or well wishes.

Cleaning for a Reason
This organization provides FREE housecleaning - once per month for 4 months - for anyone in treatment for cancer. All you have to do is sign up on their website and have your doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a reason will arrange with one of their partners near you for the service.
